Unison Research® is celebrating with a special edition of our most successful products: Simply Italy, Triode 25 and S6. The Black Edition boasts advanced technical and sonic performance, featuring a new cosmetic design with a piano black wood front panel, black gun metal finish and updated lettering graphics.

The Unison Research Simply Italy Black Edition integrates a cutting-edge electronic polarization system that maintains the KT77 power valve’s optimal operating point throughout its lifespan, eliminating the need for auto-bias adjustments. This innovation unlocks the valve’s full potential, delivering superior power and performance. The output transformer has been meticulously redesigned with a sophisticated 5-section architecture to elevate sound clarity. Enhancements extend to the circuitry, incorporating advanced power management and signal path improvements. The input selection circuit employs technology from Unison Research’s top-tier models, while precise ground path design and channel separation guarantee impeccable audio fidelity. This edition also includes three digital inputs: USB, SPDIF, and TOSlink, for versatile connectivity.

In the Simply Italy Black Edition, we've introduced a new technical solution: electronic polarization. This solution ensures the stable working point of the power valve throughout its lifespan, eliminating the need for auto-bias. This design allows us to extract the best performance from the KT77 valve and provide maximum power to the valve. We've also redesigned the output transformer, now featuring a refined 5-section design, to further enhance the sound quality from the KT77. Additionally, we've revised the circuitry in the signal path and power management. The input selection circuit now utilizes the same advanced technology found in our most premium equipment. We've also paid extreme attention to the design of ground paths and channel separation to ensure optimal performance. The new features introduced in the Simply Italy Black Edition amplifier are:

• Electronic bias adjustment
• Unfiltered SUB output that maintains the sound timbre of the amplifier designed to be connected to active subwoofer
• Input selection circuit implemented using micro relays and Return GND technology
• In addition to the 3 analogue inputs, inside the amplifier there's the new DAC3 which adds 3 more digital inputs; USB (PCM up to 384kHz, DSD native up to 256x and DoP up to 128x), Tos-link and SPDIF up to 192kHz as standard

The Simply Italy Black Edition amplifier is exclusively built using Gold Lion valves. The first signal triode operates without any feedback and it is polarized using ionic polarization. This choice allows for superior micro-detail, resulting in a natural and dynamic sound. This triode is directly coupled to the driver stage, without the use of coupling capacitors.

Consequently, Simply Italy Black Edition features only two very high-quality capacitors in series with the signal along the entire circuit path. The power output valves are biased using a dedicated negative grid voltage power supply, similar to the Simply 845. The working point remains stable throughout the life of the power valve, thanks to constant monitoring of the anode current and a dedicated circuit that adjusts the negative grid voltage accordingly. This type of polarization eliminates the need for electrolytic capacitors at the cathodes of the power valves, preventing phase shifting and capacitor "coloration" at low frequencies. All power valves operate in Class A, in ultralinear configuration with a 43% tap. The output transformer, with 5 winding sections, is designed for maximum power transfer at an impedance of 6Ω, ensuring optimal compatibility with modern loudspeakers.

The power supply system has been further enhanced by decoupling the anodic voltage of each signal valve, effectively making their power supplies independent. The input selection circuit has been meticulously designed to minimize noise and optimize channel separation. Micro relays with gold-plated silver contacts ensure stable contact over time and prevent crosstalk with other non-selected sources connected to the amplifier. Additionally, the return grounds of the inputs have been implemented using Return GND technology, guaranteeing an individual path of reduced length for each input.

The feedback control switch allows user adjustment of the amount of feedback applied to the amplifier`s internal circuit. A difference in the level of feedback can provide an improvement in the interface between amplifier and loudspeaker. Feedback affects the amplifier`s parameters, such as damping factor, bandwidth, distortion, therefore the user will choose the position that sounds the best during a listening session.
