Crafted for the discerning audiophile who demands absolute fidelity from monaural vinyl, the Shelter 501 II Mono stands as a masterclass in analog engineering. Handcrafted in Japan by legendary artisan Yasuo Ozawa, this low-output moving coil cartridge yields a commanding 0.5 mV output that breathes visceral life, warmth, and holographic depth into vintage and modern pressings alike. By ignoring vertical modulation and focusing entirely on lateral groove tracing, it strips away surface noise to reveal a majestic, velvety midrange and a strikingly organic presence that mass-produced cartridges simply cannot replicate.
The 501 II is a comprehensive model of 5 series. The first 5 series model 501 was launched more than 10 years ago with its design goal of well-balance, easy to use and comfort, and that philosophy is inherited to the latest model of 501 III. 5 series do not u se new material nor have novel technology so in true meaning it is an orthodox MC cartridge.
Shelter believes that as a manufacture it is essential to carry same model with modifying the product for a long time. 501 is also designed with materials that are always available and used. The motor assembly is simple structure combining the double layers of OFC wires wound into the iron core in normal way and aluminum clad boron cantilever. As the result it is simple yet very stable in every aspect. The output voltage is adequate 0.5mV also it accords with most tone-arms. 501 III reproduces the music straightly without asking the recorded year or music genre. The balance of expressiveness, resolving power and energy feel achieved at highest level.
The 501 will adapt to your audio system naturally and creates new standard of the analog playback

About
Shelter has been manufacturing high-end phono cartridges as a specialized analog audio manufacture by traditional manufacturing technique since the company was established in 1986. All Shelter MC phono cartridges are hand-made at a workshop in Japan by adept craftsmanship, then they are all inspected and quality assured by Yasuo Ozawa himself, the designer and founder of Shelter. The brand name of Shelter is designated with hoping that the world analog record lover who aims the summit of music playback can trust the brand and becomes a dependent on a place (shelter) of analog audio occasionally.
