Ruark R810 MiE Hi-Fi Radiogram

In October 2021, we released R5 MiE, the first model in our Made in England project, a proud milestone uniting us with highly skilled craftspeople to deliver an exceptional level of finish to key products in our range. Unfortunately, Covid and subsequent component shortages forced us to pause the project, but now, as part of our 40th Anniversary celebration, we are delighted to relaunch this project with the unveiling of R810 MiE.

R810 MiE, showcases the centuries-old art of marquetry. Our patterns are designed to reflect modern life while honouring traditional artisan techniques. Marquetry demands precision and patience. Selected veneers are meticulously cut and arranged before being bonded to the cabinet. Planning is vital to ensure perfect alignment and fit of all the intricate pieces.

Once the marquetry is bonded, multiple layers of lacquer are applied to both the cabinet and grille, with hand-sanding between coats, creating a lustrous finish that only time can achieve, taking craftsmanship to a new level.

For this first release, we present two exquisite finishes: Penta-Chord Walnut and Leaf-Line Oak. Each piece is unique - like a fingerprint – and to further enhance their exclusivity only 50 pieces of each will ever be produced, each bearing an engraved plaque as proof of authenticity.

The cabinet and grille components are crafted exclusively for us by Storm Furniture, an artisan maker based in Norfolk and proud member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen. Their bespoke work graces fine properties nationwide. After manufacture, each element is carefully transported to our Southend HQ where each R810 MiE is individually assembled by hand and signed-off before testing, and packing.

Like the iconic radiograms of yesteryear, R810 is a product that has been designed to be seen. Enhancing R810’s aesthetics is the special material we’ve selected for the handcrafted grille and veneered cabinets. Made from sustainable woods that are spliced and reconstituted, the resulting grain patterns closely resemble slow-growing hardwoods but without the ecological impact. Combined with the precision formed trims and polished chrome stand, R810 radiates sophistication and like the finest furniture, it is an object that you will cherish and be proud to have on display in your home.

Many systems today rely totally on smartphones and suchlike to provide information on settings and source, but with R810 the hi-resolution display provides all the information you need right in front of you and brings the look of R810 to life. With its portrait orientation the display intentionally emulates the way we view music applications on our phones and in conjunction with our new RotoDial controller makes R810 second nature to use. The intensity of the display in standby and active mode is also fully adjustable to suit your needs.

With touch-screens seemingly controlling everything these days, in our opinion you still can’t beat the positive click of a button or satisfying turn of a dial, particularly when it comes packaged as something unique and beautiful like our RotoDial control system, which for 100 Series has been improved and enhanced.

Included with R810 is a matching rechargeable remote. Bluetooth connectivity means that aiming is not required during operation and looking so good, it’s an item that you will want to leave out on display for everyone to touch and see.

We’re passionate about aesthetic design, but we know that it’s what lies beneath that is fundamental in creating great sound. An example of this is R810’s enclosure where inside it has been carefully divided into compartments, each which have been optimised for their intended task. Twin bass reflex compartments house our NS+ bass-midrange units and silk dome tweeters and the long throw subwoofer is housed beneath, in an infinite baffle enclosure for superbly controlled and extended bass.

Driving the system is a powerful five channel Class AB discrete component amplifier. Five separate channels means that we can precisely control the response of each drive unit and with the latest sound processing technologies, music is produced with effortless ease with a stunning soundstage that will immerse you and fill your home with exquisite sound.

R810 is a fully integrated entertainment system and provides all the connectivity you are ever likely to need. Streaming is its forte, but if you want to play records and CDs, these mediums can also be enjoyed by connecting a turntable to the phono inputs or a CD-ROM drive to the USB-C socket.

With its ability to play the highest quality audio streams, R810 opens a whole world of music and entertainment. Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect are built-in and with the addition of Apple AirPlay and Google Cast, you can stream and control directly from apps such as Apple Music, BBC Sounds, Amazon Music, Qobuz and many more. In addition you can also build a flexible multi-room system, linking R810 with other AirPlay and Google Cast compatible devices, including our own R410.

With its HDMI ARC/eARC input R810 makes a great sound system for TVs and with our optional TV Mount, R810 is transformed from a music system into a complete audio/visual solution.
