For the modern cinephile and audiophile, the physical disc is no longer a relic of the past—it is a sanctuary of uncompressed excellence. In an era dominated by the convenience of bit-rate-starved streaming services, the Magnetar UDP900 MKII arrives not just as a piece of hardware, but as a bold statement of acoustic and visual purism. Crowned by EISA as the definitive benchmark for home theatre playback, this 34-pound behemoth of aluminum and isolated circuitry bridges the gap between cinematic grandiosity and high-fidelity intimacy. By overhauling its digital-to-analog architecture and fortifying its chassis against the invisible enemies of vibration and jitter, Magnetar hasn’t merely updated a flagship player; they have crafted a definitive love letter to physical media, built specifically for those who refuse to let convenience compromise performance.
The UDP900 MKII dimensions are 445x321x133mm (including feet) and it weighs 15.5kg. It adopts an all-aluminum alloy body and a reinforced double-layer chassis structure. The internal main components are independently shielded by a metal casing, greatly reducing vibration, noise, and external magnetic field interference to bring pure and high-resolution audio and video quality.
UDP900 MKII supports Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ high dynamic image standards. It features ESS9038PRO D/A decoding for 2-channel XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced outputs, as well as ESS9028PRO D/A decoding for 7.1 RCA output. Additionally, it supports XMOS USB Audio input.
UDP900 MKII is fully compatible with a variety of disc formats, including 4K UHD BD, BD, BD-R, BD-RE, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD, CD and CD-R/RW. Additionally, it can easily connect to numerous media resources through USB 3.0 and supports up to a 16TB hard drive. It allows for sharing video, music and picture files through DLNA, SMB and NFS protocols while supporting a wide range of media formats such as MKV , AVI , MP4 , WAV , FLAC , APE , DSD etc. It enables users to effortlessly play and manage media files stored locally or on LAN devices.
A 60W toroidal transformer is used to supply power for analog audio. It utilizes an imported magnetic core, high-quality oxygen-free copper wiring, metal shields, and full epoxy filling to reduce vibration noise and heat generation, thereby improving output and audio quality.
High-quality copper-core wires are used throughout the device, the in-machine PCB connectors have been upgraded to JST and Amphenol brands, enhancing the stability and reliability of the connections.
The ESS9038PRO D/A decoder offers stereo and multi-channel outputs. With XMOS USB Audio input capable of handling PCM768 and DSD512, UDP900 MKII offers premium audio output. The TMDS retiming function on the HDMI AUDIO port also refines audio quality.
Adding a USB3.0 HUB chip and redesign the USB3.0 power supply to improve the compatibility and stability of the USB3.0 port, so as to better adapt to USB flash drives and hard drives. Also enhances the stability of data transmission and increases the transmission speed, thus achieving better sound and picture effects.
Upgrade USB AUDIO to PCM768 and DSD512, greatly improve the audio data transmission and processing capabilities, and provide higher-quality audio output.
Roon Ready is a partner program that lets UDP900 MKII auto-connect to Roon without configuration for bit-perfect audio. Working with Roon’s multi-platform music platform, UDP900 MKII delivers powerful, flexible networked audio with easy setup and top reliability for great listening experiences.
