For nearly a decade, home theater enthusiasts have lived in a state of compromise. The demise of Oppo Digital left a glaring, high-end void in the universal disc player market, forcing purists to choose between mass-market video spinners or hyper-expensive, music-only digital transports. Enter Magnetar, a brand that boldly looked at the streaming-dominated landscape and chose to double down on the uncompromised beauty of physical media. With the release of the Magnetar UDP800 MKII, the company isn’t just iterating; they are perfecting the blueprint of the ultimate single-source media hub. At its core, the UDP800 MKII is a statement piece for the modern audiophile and cinephile alike—a heavy, silent anchor for the AV rack that treats a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and a rare SACD with equal reverence. While the original MK1 established Magnetar as a serious heavyweight, this second-generation refinement targets the micro-metrics of performance. By re-engineering the digital signal paths to virtually eliminate HDMI audio jitter and reinforcing the internal power delivery, Magnetar has crafted a machine that extracts the absolute limits of color depth from your projector and the finest micro-dynamics from your loudspeakers. It is a unapologetic luxury built for those who know that the best stream still cannot match the bit-rate of a spinning disc.
The UDP800 mkII can play DVDs, Blu-rays, 4K UHD discs and even media files, featuring H265 & H264 support. Picture quality is sharp and clear, with crisp details pleasing to the eye.
The UDP800 MKII has eye-popping brightness, contrast and gorgeous colors. Picture is rich and full, with vivid colors, even in low light and backlight environment. UDP800 supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision with stunning HDR to SDR conversion, with BT.2020/BT.709/BT.601 color space support.
The UDP800 MKII can convert low resolution video sources up to 4K 50/60Hz (3840 x 2160) resolution. Four times the resolution of full HD 1080p, enhancing home video experience.
The UDP800 MKII can decode DSD64/128, multi-channel DSD64, and 192kHz/24-bit PCM formats with AIFF, ALAC, APE, FLAC and WAV audio file support. Enjoy 4K hd picture quality without missing every detail of sound. UDP800 supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, as well as Dolby Atmos and DTS-X, enabling you to enjoy the best panoramic sound and immersive experience.
The UDP800 MKII Interface is designed to provide you a smooth and intuitive experience, allowing easy access to various settings and local USB devices and networks.
UDP800 MKII supports multiple disc and media formats, such as UHD-BD, BD, BD-R, BD-RE, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, SACD, CD, CD-R/RW. In addition, USB HDD up to 16TB is supported, with direct access from your computer or NAS through your local network using DLNA or SMB protocols, for a better multimedia life.
High-quality copper-core wires are used throughout the device, the in-machine PCB connectors have been upgraded to JST and Amphenol brands, enhancing the stability and reliability of the connections.
Adding the TMDS retiming function to the mainboard’s HDMI AUDIO port, which can effectively compensate for random jitter, provide better signal quality and load-carrying capacity, and further improve the HDMI audio quality, making the sound details richer.
Adding a USB3.0 HUB chip and redesign the USB3.0 power supply to improve the compatibility and stability of the USB3.0 port, so as to better adapt to USB flash drives and hard drives. The optimization also enhances the stability of data transmission and increases the transmission speed, thus achieving better sound and picture effects.
Replacing the operational amplifiers with seven OPA1602s. Its low noise reduces audio distortion for clearer sound. High precision ensures accurate signal reproduction, creating audiophile-grade sound.
Roon Ready is a partner program that lets UDP800 MKII auto-connect to Roon without configuration for bit-perfect audio. Working with Roon’s multi-platform music platform, UDP800 MKII delivers powerful, flexible networked audio with easy setup and top reliability for great listening experiences.
