Released in 1971 as one of the earliest titles in the Three Blind Mice catalogue, 2nd Album captures Kosuke Mine’s quintet navigating the boundary between hard bop, modal exploration, and a new Japanese jazz identity. The group’s interplay — driven by Hideo Ichikawa’s piano and Mine’s expressive saxophone — radiates both precision and freedom. The 2024 vinyl reissue restores the original analog tapes with audiophile mastering by Bernie Grundman.
