The GigaWatt PC-2 EVO+ is a technologically advanced, new generation power conditioner, designed to power and protect Hi-FI and Hi-End audio-video systems. This conditioner not only effectively protects against interference and surges occurring in the home electrical network, but above all guarantees a significant improvement in the quality of sound , as well as the displayed image of powered devices.

CONSTRUCTION

All conditioner components are mounted in a stiffened steel-aluminum chassis, which rests on anti-vibration feet made of solid anodized aluminum, resting on a new, proprietary 3.5 mm thick elastomer.

The front panel of the conditioner is made of a thick sheet of aviation aluminum, the surface of which is precisely milled, roughened and then anodized in two color variants - black or silver.

The PC-2 EVO+ conditioner is equipped with six high-quality GigaWatt branded power sockets with large-area contacts. The brass contacts of the sockets have been factory-processed with technical silver plating without the use of intermediate metals such as copper or nickel, which could introduce unfavorable series resistance and voltage drop. The enlarged contact surface and thick silver layer guarantee reliable contact with the plug pins. The sockets have been additionally subjected to cryogenic modification and demagnetization process.

The correct operation of the device is indicated by a white LED diode located on the front panel display. The conditioner is also equipped with an additional system that signals irregularities in the connection of the device to the electrical network. Its operation is indicated by a red LED diode located on the back, signaling incorrect polarity of the conditioner's power supply or incorrectly connected grounding.

TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS

The PC-2 EVO+ conditioner is equipped with a multi-stage parallel filtration system. Three independent filtering branches support three separate sections, each consisting of two sockets. Thanks to this solution, the filtration method of each branch has been adapted to the nature of its load, different for different types of devices - digital, analog, or receivers with high current consumption. Autonomous passive filters allow for isolation from interference generated by interconnected devices using a common power line.

PC-2 EVO+ is based on a new filter architecture and is enriched with a number of new components. The most important novelty is the development of anti-interference capacitors from scratch, and compensation batteries of buffering systems, manufactured by Miflex, according to strict specifications of GigaWatt.

The PC-2 EVO+ uses an innovative, two-stage power distribution system, which is the company's own development. It is based on massive third-generation distribution rails made of polished bars of highly conductive C11000 cathode copper with a purity of 99.995%. The first stage enables lossless and even voltage distribution to individual filtering branches. The second stage supplies current directly to each pair of output sockets via crimped and twisted connections. The internal wiring is made of GigaWatt Powerlink cables, made of oxygen-free copper with a cross-section of 4.0 QMM. The use of star connection topology and high conductivity and a massive cross-section of 30 QMM of each rail ensures even and stable power distribution regardless of the load on the individual conditioner outputs.

Due to the increased efficiency of the filtering systems, they were assembled with silver solder on massive PCBs containing twice the amount of copper compared to standard printed circuit boards. Single-layer printed circuits have extremely wide conductive paths made of copper, the thickness of which is 70 micrometers. Interference suppression is provided by RLC filtering blocks, built on the basis of, among others, proprietary Audio Grade filtering capacitors and filters based on IP (Iron Powder) cores.

The conditioner does not use traditional safety elements, such as fuses or thermal fuses, which, by throttling the free flow of current to the protected circuits, have a negative impact on the sound. The conditioner's overvoltage protection is provided by a starting block, which contains plasma spark gaps, new generation UltraMOV varistors and a pre-filter. These elements, working together with a properly made, modern electrical installation, guarantee comprehensive protection against overvoltages and overcurrents.

To ensure the highest possible impulse response, the PC-2 EVO+ has been equipped with a double buffering system with Audio Grade class compensation batteries, according to our own development. The system increases current efficiency with non-linear loads such as power amplifiers and eliminates differences between the power at the input and output of the conditioner. This allows for almost unlimited impulse possibilities, unseen in other similar passive conditioners and unattainable for active conditioners. The impulse possibilities of the PC-2 EVO+ exceed even the current values ​​of a clean power line without additional devices.  

The standard equipment of the PC-2 EVO+ also includes a DC Offset Blocker – a system that eliminates the unwanted DC component of the electrical network. The DC component is a highly unfavorable phenomenon and occurs in almost every electrical network. It manifests itself in the asymmetry of the AC voltage sinusoid (non-sinusoidality) and has a negative impact on the operation of all devices using transformers. Causing their cores to be magnetized, it leads to increased transformer noise (buzzing), reduced power supply efficiency, and consequently to a deterioration of the sound. DC Blocker allows for effective elimination of this phenomenon, without causing any compression or any other negative impact on the sound.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

  • Rolling-Ball Isolation System feet. – PC-2 EVO+ can be equipped with a completely new type of feet with a mechanism called Rolling-Ball Isolation System. This is an anti-vibration system consisting of two parts (external and internal) made of solid aluminum, between which there are two tracks with balls. The task of the system is to minimize the number of contact points of the foot, and then the conditioner housing with the ground, which consequently translates into a significant reduction of mechanical vibrations, which negatively affect the internal elements of the conditioner, degrading its sound. An additional insulating element, on which the entire structure rests, is a company-made elastomer with a thickness of 5 mm.
  • Power cables; higher models – PC-2 EVO+ is equipped with a 1.5m PowerSync PLUS power cable as standard . In order to use the conditioner's maximum potential, it is recommended to use the LC-2 EVO or PowerSync ULTRA network cable
  • Output sockets in a different standard. PC-2 EVO+ is equipped with G-040 Schuko type power sockets used in most European countries. In order to effectively protect against access by children, the sockets can be equipped with integrated anti-shock shutters (increased protection against contact in accordance with VDE 0620
  • Versions with sockets in other standards are also available, such as NEMA 5-20R, used in North America and some Asian countries, or AS/NZS 3112, used in Australia.
