Tannoy Revolution DC6 - Bookshelf Speaker Pair
"But our winners come from Tannoy. The outstanding Revolution DC6s marry speed, detail and agility in an unrivalled package, and deliver superb sound from a beautifully put together speaker for £600." What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision magazine, group test winner at £600.
Dual concentric drive units
Making use of Tannoy's famous Dual Concentric drive units, the DC6 sounds exceptionally open and spacious. Placing the tweeter in the throat of the main woofer, gives a single point source for high and mid-range frequencies. The result is a consistency and realism of vocals that you'd be hard pushed to find from many rivals.
Detailed and powerful
The tweeter itself is a titanium dome unit that gives exceptional detail without sounding brash or harsh. The woofer uses conventional pulp paper with a long throw surround for effortless power. Although compact, the 6-inch woofer provides a surprisingly powerful bass response, dynamic and superbly integrated with the rest of the music.
Quality cabinet
Helping to give the drive units the very best of support, the cabinets are particularly well built. The trapezoidal shape breaks up internal standing waves for a less boomy sound, while internal bracing makes them very rigid. As a whole, the cabinets provide less musical colouration than many rivals, and play their part in making the Tannoy Revolution DC6s sound natural and free from distortion.
Audiophile attention to detail
With the Tannoy Revolution DC6, much of the beauty is in the detail. Silver-plated cable and chromed cable connections offer a long-lasting and low resistance connection, right up to the drive units. The crossover features low-loss, laminated inductors and audiophile-grade polypropylene capacitors. These quality of components would usually be used in more expensive speakers and helps give the Tannoy's their open and transparent sound.
Great looks
Finished in a smart 'Espresso' veneer, that contrasts well with the silver drive units, the DC6's look every bit as smart and refined as their musical presentation.
Provided you've not got a massive room to fill or have a musical diet of solely bass-heavy music, the Tannoy DC6 speakers are simply the best in their class.
